The Old Fashioned Way

Traditionally barristers were instructed only by solicitors and the public were not allowed to instruct a barrister directly.  Barristers would usually only advise, draft and conduct advocacy.  Most barristers still prefer to work in this way.  You get two experienced lawyers working on your case but you pay both sets of fees.
